Writing and Editing Services
Don’t let awkward sentence structures, plot holes, pacing problems, or haphazard organization detract from your important message!
A good writer or editor will help you make your best, most polished impression.
An experienced generalist with a creative flair.
A professional, meticulous wordsmith.
A freelance writer and editor since 1993, I have expertise with children’s literature, non-fiction, web content, product descriptions, blogs, manuals, proposals, speeches, and articles. My first novel, Butterfly Dust, was published in 1994, and I am currently working on a second novel. A bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in education, and my experience as an English and writing teacher at the high school and community college level, as well as my years as a writing tutor for two major universities, have fashioned me into a meticulous, creative, and engaging writer and editor who is passionate about what she does! I know what a difference the right words make. Contact me and we’ll discuss your writing or editing needs in detail.
Q: What is the difference between proofreading, line editing, and content editing?
A: Proofreading corrects mechanical errors such as punctuation, spelling, grammar, and incorrect word choice.
Line editing provides proofreading, plus revisions to sentence structure and possibly some light organizational changes for clarity.
Content editing includes proofreading and line editing, but also provides deeper content and structural revisions for overall effectiveness and impact.
Q: Do you ever outsource your work?
A: No, never. I will edit or write every word of every project myself.
Q: What formats do you work with?
A: I primarily work with Word documents or Google docs. If you send me a PDF I will transfer it to Word and send it back to you in that format. I’m sorry, but my system does not recognize .pages files.
Q: What are your prices?
A: I work closely with individuals and bid on each project on a case-by-case basis, based on the type of work, my availability, the expected turnaround time, etc. I may charge by the hour or by the project. Again, each project is unique, and therefore my bids will be as well. Once I have provided my bid and you accept it, we will sign a mutually agreeable contract. For large projects, we may negotiate milestones and partial payments along the way. Contact me and we can discuss your project and my pricing in-depth!
